Cathryn is a storytelling pro, with significant experience in broadcast and online journalism and also working with local to international organizations on their branding, communciations and marketing.

​Cathryn, whose roots are in Oregon and Michigan, has worked as an award-winning broadcast journalist, founded the popular blog Oceanwire, and co-wrote three non-fiction books published by Random House and Viking Penguin. She speaks fluent French and Fulfulde, and has some proficiency in Spanish.

She served more than two years as a rural development and sustainability specialist in the Peace Corps in Niger, West Africa, where her cozy straw hut became somewhat sinister when a spitting cobra took up residence there one rainy season.

Cathryn earned degrees from Smith College, Yale School of the Environment and Paris' Sciences-Po.
